3d printed busts.

.2017 - 2018

the question behind this work is learning how materials, images, and shapes fit together. inspired by the "culture of materials" proposed by vladimir tatlin, which stated that any material, regardless of its origin, could and should be used to create an artwork. that the culture of materials is the starting point for the involvement of art in all spheres of life. in his words, the artist should put on worker's overalls, and train in the fields of artistic work offered by modern technology and new construction materials.
i constructed these pieces based on 3d printed busts, added metal elements and shape them to fit with these 3d pints. after a piece is finished, i use lighting and a camera (digital or film) to enhance the different patterns and footprints that each material and technique produces, the piece is ultimately presented along with its photographic image.
